• 누구든지 감기나 다른 종류의 바이러스성 상기도염 등으로 비강이 막히면(코가 막히면) 입을 벌리고 입으로 숨 쉴 때가 있다. 
• 이것은 일시적이고 극히 정상적인 현상이다. 
• 아데노이드가 상당히 커지거나, 알레르기성 비염이 심하거나, 비중격 만곡증이 심하거나, 비강 폴립 등으로 비강이 막힐 수 있다. 
• 이때도 코로 숨 쉬는 대신 입으로 숨을 쉬어야 할 때가 있다. 
• 오랫동안 입을 벌리고 숨 쉬면 이·잇몸·혀·입천장 등이 건조해지고 부정교합이 생길 수 있다. 
• 아데노이드 안모가 생길 수 있다. 
• 원인에 따라 치료해 준다.

• If anyone has a blocked nasal passage (blocked nose) due to a cold or some other type of viral upper respiratory tract infection, they will sometimes breathe through their mouth with their mouth open.

• This is a temporary and extremely normal phenomenon.

• Adenoids may become significantly enlarged, allergic rhinitis may be severe, or nasal septum may be severe, or nasal polyps may block the nasal passages.

• There are times when you need to breathe through your mouth instead of breathing through your nose.

• If you breathe with your mouth open for a long time, your teeth, gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth may become dry and malocclusion may occur. • Adenoids may develop.

• Treatment depends on the cause.
